“Colorado National Monument preserves one of the grand landscapes of the American West. Towering monoliths exist within a vast plateau and canyon panorama.” The description from the park website is well said and I agree with it.
However, when I asked a ranger where to take good sunset photos, I was told there isn’t any a good spot for late afternoon shots. “By 1pm, the canyon will be in shadows.” This is not true. Most of the pictures below were taken in late afternoon. I just had to stumble and to find the place. The last few were taken from Devils Kitchen right around sunset. I love the warm lighting and the silhouetted rocks.
