I’ve been to Colorado many times and hiked a lot of beautiful places. But I had never been to Maroon Bells. From all the pictures I had seen online, it seemed a pretty cool place. So it is our first stop in Colorado.
Surrounded by pristine National Forest, Maroon Bells area is as gorgeous as I imaged—a glacial valley surrounded by 14000-foot peaks. Not only we had fun hiking, we’ve also seen cute chipmunks, found colorful mushrooms, and picked raspberries. Life is good when one enjoys such simple pleasures.
PS. Maroon Bells has limited accessibility by car. There are shuttle buses running from Aspen Village. As an injured policewoman, Libby has a handicap parking pass which gave us a privilege to drive up the mountain. Although most of the times she can hike for a long, sometimes she has to take pain killers and can’t even walk a few steps. Her fighting spirit earns my respect.
