Portage Valley of Chugach National Forest is truly an outdoor lovers’ dream place. Only 50 miles south of Anchorage, it offers almost everything one wants to see in nature:

Two nice hiking trails – Trail of Blue Ice (5 miles) and Byron Glacier Trail (0.8 miles one way)

Two Campgrounds

A visitor center with award-winning exhibits

Several lakes, large or small
