71. An Outdoor Lover’s Dream Land
Portage Valley of Chugach National Forest is truly an outdoor lovers’ dream place. Only 50 miles south of Anchorage, it offers almost everything one wants to see in nature:
Two nice hiking trails – Trail of Blue Ice (5 miles) and Byron Glacier Trail (0.8 miles one way)
Two Campgrounds
A visitor center with award-winning exhibits
Several lakes, large or small
Countless waterfalls
Half a dozen glaciers!
Tall mountain peak, hanging glacier, and clear lake
Perfect reflection of trees and tree trunks
Glacier mountain, and valley filled with wildflowers
Mountain with snow and waterfalls
Blue Glacier ice
Glacier and Ice
Iceberg in the lake
Salmon (can be seen in rivers, creeks and lakes)
Salmons in a clear lake
A pond with green water
And of course, the person who enjoys the nature 🙂
