221. Sedona (26): “The Devil” on Devil’s Bridge

DSC03621

I’ve been to Devil’s Bridge a number of times, sometimes alone, other times with the hiking group. It is really an amazing place—the largest natural sandstone arch in the Sedona area. The bridge is stunning, the view from the top is grand, and the surrounding area, as you hike to the arch, is spectacular.

However, not too long ago, a woman fell to her death from “Devil’s Bridge”! She was pushed, as I heard, by someone tripped while they were on top of the bridge. “Use caution,” the description of Devil’s Bridge on National Forest website warned, “and exercise some common sense; it’s a long way down.”

Hiking is fun, and from what I posted here, it’s easy to tell that I’m a big fan of hiking and outdoor. However, being outdoors inherently means that we have to take certain risk. Sometimes, things happen out of our control. All we can do is to be careful, and to enjoy the beauty while we can.
