326. Five Shades of Green, and More

DSC05890

Valley of Five Lakes is a trail in Jasper National Park. As its name indicated, there are five lakes along the way—five lakes of different shape, size, and color. I love the different shades of green. The area seemed so serene.

325. Spectacular Mount Edith Cavell in Jasper National Park

DSC05706

With alpine meadows, green/blue lakes, sharp mountaintops, cascading waterfalls, and a hanging glacier, Mount Edith Cavell is one of my favorite areas in Jasper NP. I don’t know how long the trail is. I spent 3-4 hours there. The last part of the path is quite steep, but the view from the top is breathtaking. I love seeing three lakes of different size, shape, and color, all at once.

I was lucky to be there on a bright sunny day. The view won’t be as stunning if it was in a cloudy day. I’ve been to Jasper NP several times by now. There were a lot of cloudy and rainy days.

324. A Slice of Heaven

DSC05644
As requested by a couple of friends, I’m posting a few pictures of my host’s log house. It is beautiful, isn’t it? The sunset photos were taken right in the backyard. I feel lucky—other people come here for a day or two and they have to pay near $100/night. I get to stay here for free. 🙂 With very friendly people, it is a slice of heaven!

323. Mount Robson Provincial Park: Kinney Lake/Berg Lake

DSC05493

I’ve visited Mount Robson a little more than two years ago. I was on my way to Alaska. The place left such a great impression that I wanted to come back.

At 4000 meters above sea level, Mount Robson is imposing and spectacular. There are beautiful waterfalls, massive blue glaciers, charming lakes, and pristine rivers within the park. Kinney Lake/Berg Lake is such a picturesque area. The whole trail is 42 km round trip. I’ve only hiked 22 km.

322. Canoeing with My Host

DSC05592
I went canoeing on Fraser River with my host.
Before they have the B&B, Andy and Elli had a tour guiding business. They took people canoeing and hiking in this area for several years. And now, they take their friends and helpers canoeing with them.
It was a gorgeous day, sunny and comfortable. The light green river franked by tall mountain ranges. Andy and I had one canoe; Danny, their son, and a former helper (he just stopped for a few day again) shared another. It was fun and relaxing. I was told that in a few weeks, salmons will start to show up in the area. Although I’ve seen similar scenes in Alaska, it’ll be so cool to see tons of red salmons and most likely bears trying to catch them.
